How to Draw Cupid – Let’s Get Started!

Step 1Cupid Drawing - How To Draw Cupid Step By Step (2)

In this guide on how to draw Cupid, we will be portraying a pretty classic representation of Cupid.

That means that he will be styled to look like a curly-haired baby, and the hair is what we will start with in this first step.

First, using the reference image you can use some curved lines for the outline of Cupid’s face.

Once the face outline is drawn, we shall next add some facial features such as the eyes, nose and mouth to create his calm facial expression.

His hair will be quite wavy and curly, and you can draw it using some flowy lines coming from his head to make the outline and details.

Finally for this step, you can use some rounded lies for his raised arm clutching the string of his bow and you can use a straight line for the string.

Step 2 – Draw the wings and more of the body for CupidCupid Drawing - How To Draw Cupid Step By Step (3)

Cupid wouldn’t get very far without his trusty wings, so we shall add some to your Cupid drawing in this next part.

Use some curved lines to create the outlines for the wings as they appear in our reference image, and then you can add lots of smaller curved lines to the interior for some feather details.

The wing on the left will be a bit less detailed, but we will add some later on. Then, finish off this step by drawing his second arm extended out and some curved lines for his chest.

Step 3 – Next, draw his legs and bowCupid Drawing - How To Draw Cupid Step By Step (4)

Now it’s time to draw Cupid’s signature accessory in this step of our guide on how to draw Cupid.

That means that we will be creating his signature bow, and you can create this using some curved lines to make some thin shapes for the body of the bow in the lower hand.

You can also draw the thin arrow on the bow and being held by the hand on the right-hand side of the image.

Finally, we will be drawing his legs beneath him. These will be drawn with some rounded lines and will be quite short and chubby to make them look like baby legs.

Step 4 – Now, draw the tunic he is wearing with some more detailsCupid Drawing - How To Draw Cupid Step By Step (5)

We will be adding to your Cupid drawing by adding his flowing cloth tunic behind him. This tunic will be drawn with a lot of curved and rounded lines with plenty of details on it to make it look more like flowy fabric.

It will extend down from the base of his wing and down to his back. It will be positioned in such a way as it will look like it is connecting to the fabric extending out on the left-hand side.

Once you have drawn all of this fabric, we will then add a slightly wavy line across his chest for the strap that his quiver of arrows would be connected to.

Step 5 – Add some final details to your Cupid drawingCupid Drawing - How To Draw Cupid Step By Step (6)

Before you start to color in your wonderful picture, we have just a few final touches to add in this fifth step of our guide on how to draw Cupid.

First, draw another curvy line running parallel to the line you drew across his chest to finish off the strap there.

Then you can draw some more shapes to his back to add more to the fabric of his tunic. To finish off, we will add some small curved lines to his wing on the right for some more detail.

Before you move on to the final step, what else can you think of to add to this image? Perhaps you could draw a background or incorporate Cupid into a Valentine’s card for a special someone.

We used some muted blues and greys for his wings while using some pinks for his skin and light browns for his hair.
