A Drink From Russia With Love... Kind Of

A little history with your buzz...

The Moscow Mule is a great all-around drink. Its gingery kick makes it warming in winter, but its lime flavor makes it refreshing in hot weather too. The Moscow Mule was born in the early 1940s when vodka was first being marketed heavily in the United States. Before that, gin was the clear liquor of choice, and vodka was considered a distinctly Russian spirit, hence the name here. The drink enjoyed a wildly popular first few years stateside, and, thus, the American love affair with vodka.

Hair-on-your-chest factor: 54/100

This is a drink that nearly everyone will enjoy. It knows no gender or cultural boundaries, indeed, it started out as something of an ambassador in a highball glass. It does, however, have a kick to it (thanks to the ginger) and it's most certainly not a drink to be scoffed at by your single malt-sipping brethren. Your grandfather probably had a few of these when he came home from World War II. That in and of itself puts the Moscow Mule firmly into the "man drinks" category.

Instructions:
Over ice, mix:
1 part vodka
1 part fresh-squeezed lime juice
3 parts ginger beer (or ginger ale)
