I’m so glad that ya’ll have loved the deco mesh tutorials on the blog! I just love the pictures that ya’ll have been sending and the stories that you’ve been telling me about making these wreaths on your own! (I’ve even had a reader e-mail me and tell me that her and her family made a bunch of these using my tutorial for this “After Thanksgiving” craft! How awesome!!)

With all of the joy that these wreaths bring I knew I had to make one for someone that really needed a bit of joy in their life. I don’t know if she’s even seen it or even knows I brought it and hung it up but hopefully she’ll notice it soon. You see my grandma (my Ma) is in the nursing home. She’s been there for a few weeks and as only suppose to be there for a few weeks for some type of rehab, but since she’s been there her mental state has gone to the wayside. Dementia and early bits ofAlzheimer’s have set in and I’m not even sure if she knew who we were last time we were there. 🙁 She isn’t doing well.

I was inspired to make a wreath for her after seeing my friend Jordan had made one for her Mum when she was in the nursing home. What a wonderful idea.

Even though I don’t even know if she knows where she is or if she knows it’s Christmas time I felt like she needed some type of “Christmas” in her room since she isn’t at home.

Every year she always puts up a mini Christmas tree in her living room on a side table that stands in front of the window beside her piano. This year we took a mini tree to her room at the nursing home and decorated it instead. We decorated her mirror with little Christmas decals and I hung this little mini deco mesh wreath on her closet door beside her bed.

So while I was making this little wreath I decided to turn on my Christmas music and snap a few pictures in case you’d want to make aMini Christmas Deco Mesh Wreath too. Perfect for spaces that aren’t quite big enough for a huge deco mesh wreaths, like dorm rooms, bedrooms or even nursing home.

PART 1 – Will show you how to make a “Work Wreath” (Click HERE)
PART 2 – Will show you how I make the Deco Mesh Wreath (BELOW)

Mini Christmas Deco Mesh Wreath

What I used:

1 Work Wreath Form (10-12 inch), store bought or homemade(click here to learn how to make one)
10 – Pipe Cleaners (for the wreath from ^)
1 (5 1/2″) Red and Green Colored Deco Mesh Ribbon Roll –From Hobby Lobby
1- Christmas Pick –From Hobby Lobby
Mini Tree Ornaments (I love these for mini wreaths!) –From Hobby Lobby

**You’ll also need a glue gun**

First, you’ll need to make a Work Wreath Form (unless you’ve bought one pre-made). I have a tutorial on making that here.

Then pick out your deco mesh. I used this green and red striped deco mesh from Hobby Lobby.

Then you’ll need to pick out picks and ornaments for your wreath.

I found these in the section for decorating “mini” trees!

These little bows and these little redornamentswere the perfect size.

See how tiny they are.

Perfect!

And I found this little Christmas looking pine cone pick.

Let’s get started!

Start with your work wreath on a flat surface.

Gather the deco mesh at the end. Take the end of the deco mesh and place it into the center of one of the pipe cleaners in the inside ring of the work wreath.

Twist the pipe cleaner to hold the deco mesh in place.

Move down the deco mesh a few inches and bunch it together.

Place the end of the bunch into a pipe cleaner and twist to secure.

Move all the way around the inside ring.

Once you’ve completed the entire inside circle and get back to the starting point it’s time to work on the outside rings.

Start with the pipe cleaners directly above the “starting point” pipe cleaner.

Gather a bunch of deco mesh and then twist to secure. Move all the way around the outside ring.

When you get to the end, twist the last bit of deco mesh into the next pipe cleaner.

Now your wreath base is finished. This base is finished but you’ll need to fix all of the pipe cleaners sticking out all over the wreath.

Flip the wreath over so that you can see the wire base.

Working your way around the wreath, pull the pipe cleaners around and to the back of the wreath.

Twist them onto the wire base.

Twist to secure them.

Doing this will pull the deco mesh towards the center of the wreath!

It will also hide all of those pipe cleaners that were sticking out.

Turn the wreath over and fluff the deco mesh.

Continue fluffing until you’ve got the wreath just how you like it.

Now it’s time to add in the pick and decorations.

Add some hot glue to the pick and insert it into the wreath.

.

Next glue on the mini ornaments.

And then the bows.

Last but not least glue on the little Merry Christmas sign.

That’s it. 🙂

Pretty Easy 🙂

I love the mini details for the mini wreath.
