Romans 8:11 “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
Explanation and Commentary of Romans 8:11
This is a profound truth that should bring hope and joy to Christians. It not only means that our own bodies will be raised from the dead at the return of Jesus, but that even in this life, inhabiting our mortal flesh, we can have the life force of God flowing through us, giving us new life in Christ, what Jesus called, abundant life (Jn 10:10).
Paul will go on to say because of this that we have an obligation to the Spirit living in us to walk, not according to the flesh, but the Spirit. In this way, the life of the follower of Jesus is impacted and changed dramatically over time as he or she faithfully obeys this command. Where does the power for this new life come from? The Holy Spirit who raised Jesus Christ from the dead! The very same power that reanimated his life in the tomb and brought him out is more than adequate to empower our impossibly abundant lives in Christ.
If you have been saved by grace through faith in Christ, but have not seen a change in your life as a result, then you are missing out on powerful, and wonderful aspects of being a Christ-follower. Seek his kingdom and walk according to his righteousness. His Spirit who lives inside you will empower your new life in him if you only allow him to.
#1 “And if the Spirit of him…” The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father, and of the Son.
#2 “…who raised Jesus from the dead…” The Holy Spirit was present at the beginning of the creation of everything out of nothing (Gen 1:2). The Holy Spirit is the only person or force who is able to do such a thing, and he not only brought Jesus back to life, but he brought him back in a new and glorified body, just as he will with all believers at the resurrection.
#3 “…is living in you,” This is so profound that we routinely underestimate the importance of it. The very same power is not only around us but in us. That we ignore the fact is one of the greatest tragedies in Jesus’ Church.
#4 “he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” “He,” being God, will give us life in this age through his Holy Spirit in us, in spite of the fact that our bodies are still mortal. One day we will receive an immortal body to go with our new spirit.
NIV And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
NLT The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
ESV If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
KJV But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
NKJV But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

More specifically, he says that "if"—which in this context means "since"—God's Spirit is in you, that same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead will also give life to our mortal bodies (1 John 3

First John 3:1–3 highlights the amazing love God has for us. Not only is He willing to call us His children, we actually are His children. Some of that transformation is immediate, but not everything we will be has been revealed, yet. Only when Christ returns will we see everything He has in store for us.
The answer is; God figuratively gives “life” to our mortal bodies, by raising us out of baptism, to “walk in newness of life”. In exactly the same way that our bodies are “dead” because of sin, they are also made “alive” because of righteousness.
What does "mortal bodies" in Romans 8:11 mean? The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
“Present a living holy body to God” means give your members — your eyes, your tongue, your hands and feet — give your body to do righteousness, not sin. That's what would make a body holy. A body is holy not because of what it looks like, or what shape it's in, but because of what it does.
Is cremation a sin? Burying the dead was the usual practice in Biblical times, and until recently, the preferred method for most people when they passed. Even though many Bible passages see cremation as necessary in only dire times, nowhere in the Bible is cremation directly condemned.
Our bodies are so important that the Lord calls them temples of God (see 1 Corinthians 3:16–17; 6:19–20). Our bodies are holy. Because our bodies are important, our Father in Heaven wants us to take good care of them. He knows that we can be happier, better people if we are healthy.
Father in heaven, I know that you are glorious and that I am mortal. I know that you are eternal and that my current physical body is subject to decay. So I thank you for placing your Holy Spirit within me so that I can live for you while in this physical body of decay.
Romans 8 is one of the most loved chapters in all of Scripture. Paul begins and ends this passage with statements about the absolute security of those who are in Christ. First, there is no condemnation, at all, for those in Christ. Last, nothing will ever be able to separate us from God's love for us in Christ.
When he says the Spirit will quicken our mortal bodies, it is talking about imparting the qualities of God's life into the deadness of this mortal body. That includes healing, health, strength, vitality, etc. It lifts up our mortal bodies from the death that reigns on this fallen earth.
A physical body is given to each of us by our loving Heavenly Father. He created it as a tabernacle for our spirit to assist each of us in our quest to fulfill the full measure of our creation. Our bodies allow each of us to experience the great plan of salvation that He has designed for all His children.
But giving our bodies to God entails much more than abstaining from the sins of the flesh. We are to offer our bodies by living each day for God. Everything we do, including our work, broadly defined, is part of our sacrifice to God.
We should not eat too much or too little. We should take time each day to move our bodies. We should take care of our mental health. We should keep ourselves clean and pristine, getting ready each day like we would prepare a church for Sunday mass.
The Bible says that in heaven Christ “will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body” (Philippians 3:21). The Bible gives us a hint of what we will be like in its account of Jesus' transfiguration. (You can read it in Luke 9:28-36.)
"Whoever touches the dead body of anyone will be unclean for seven days. He must purify himself with the water on the third day and on the seventh day; then he will be clean. But if he does not purify himself on the third and seventh days, he will not be clean.
In the New Testament, it's living sacrifice because our sacrifice lives, and He brings life to us. So you are to be living sacrifices, sanctified by His power, His presence, and His redeeming grace, sanctified so that you are holy and without blame as you give the praise to the Lord.
