What is a Tennessee mule made of? ›

A Tennessee Mule is a co*cktail made with Tennessee whiskey, lime juice and ginger beer. It's delightfully refreshing, with a nice zing from the ginger and a bright zest from the limes, all to balance out that bit of whiskey.

Plenty of mules swap out vodka for whiskey, and depending on what kind of whiskey you're using, they have different names. Kentucky mules use bourbon, Tennessee mules use whiskey from Tennessee and Irish mules use, you guessed it, whiskey made in Ireland. The aptly named Caribbean mule contains rum.

I made a Stormy Daniels: 1 part Jack Daniels, 3 parts ginger beer, and a fresh lime squeeze. (Basically a Dark & Stormy with Jack instead of rum.)

Ingredients. 2 oz Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey. 4 oz Ginger Beer. 1/2 Lime, squeezed. Lime & Mint for Garnish.

In a drink shaker, combine vodka, lime juice, lemon juice, and syrup with ice and shake vigorously. 2. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Top with ginger beer and garnish with rosemary sprig.

Have an empty pint glass or bar/sundae spoon. Add bourbon, lime (and / or Pomegranate) juice, and bitters. Add crushed ice and ginger beer to top. Transfer back and forth from mug to pint glass or stir with a bar spoon. Garnish with a citrus wedge.

There isn't a universally recognized name for this co*cktail, but it's often referred to based on the specific whiskey used. For example, when made with Jack Daniels, it's commonly called a Jack and Root Beer. Regardless of the name, the combination of whiskey and root beer is recognized and loved by many.

While the traditional choice for this co*cktail is rye, bourbon or other American whiskeys can do the job. A high-rye Canadian whisky could also work in a pinch, but the key is to choose a spirit with enough oomph to announce its presence rather than be overpowered by the ginger.

Asked why they chose that name, the organisers replied: 'Gingerbeer is co*ckney rhyming slang for “queer”. We also like drinking beer with ginger-haired people.
