About the Distillery
Tito’s Handmade Vodka was founded by Bert “Tito” Beveridge in 1997 in Austin, Texas, USA. Tito, a former geophysicist, set out to create a high-quality vodka using the knowledge and passion he gained from his background in science and distillation. He named the vodka after himself, and Tito’s Handmade Vodka quickly gained a loyal following in Texas and beyond.
How this product is made
Tito’s Handmade Vodka is made from 100% corn, which is the primary ingredient used in the distillation process. The choice of corn imparts a distinct sweetness to the vodka and contributes to its smooth character.
The production process begins with the corn being milled and mashed to extract the sugars. The resulting mash is fermented with yeast to convert the sugars into alcohol, creating a liquid called “wash.”
The wash is then distilled in copper pot stills, a traditional method known for its ability to produce a high-quality and flavorful spirit. Tito’s Handmade Vodka is distilled multiple times to achieve a high level of purity and smoothness.
After distillation, the vodka is carefully filtered through activated charcoal to remove any remaining impurities, ensuring a clean and crisp taste. Tito’s Handmade Vodka is then diluted to its desired bottling strength with pure water before being bottled and labeled by hand.
